Top Ten Canadian Christmas Gifts

Whether you are buying a gift for a resident Canadian or an expat, here's a list of suggestions sure to please any Canuck.

10.  Toque. It's get cold here in winter and you need to keep your head warm.  If you are sending your present south, it can always start a fashion trend.

9.  Maple syrup.  What else do you put on pancakes on a cold winter morning but 100% pure Canadian maple syrup.

8.  Skates.  From 2 to 100, everyone needs a pair of skates for their backyard rink.

7.  Tickets to Vegas to see Celine or Shania.  Canadians love to boast about their stars and if we get to gamble too, it's good cheer all around.

6.  Gift card from Timmies.  Canadians can't live without their double doubles and will wait in line to get it.  We don't believe in ordering coffee and then having to mix it ourselves.

5.  Goose down coat.  It may not be hip or fashionable but it keeps you warm. We don't mind looking like the Michelin Man in minus 25(and that's celsius) weather.

4.  Trivial pursuit.  Board game invented by Canadians.  Nothing is more Canadian then to challenge someone to a game of wits, especially after a few drinks.

3.  Canadian whiskey.  For the connoisseur on your list.  Great to give, awesome to receive and nice to share.  Also keeps you warm in cold weather.

2.  Two-four.  For the Bob and Doug's on your list.  Nothing screams Canadian more than a case of "50".

1.  Settle the NHL strike.  If you need an explanation, you're not Canadian.

My children, of course, only ask for one Canadian Christmas gift; Canadian currency.
