Canada in Hollywood
Canada has long been a backdrop for many Hollywood Movies. I know I enjoy seeing my city as the backdrop for many of the Biggest Blockbuster films of the past 3 decades. Toronto, in our case, has been New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and pretty much every other major metropolis in the world, real and fictitious. Canadians, especially living abroad, get a kick out of pointing at the screen and exclaiming to anyone who'll listen "Hey that isn't 5th Avenue New York, that's Young and Dundas in Toronto up the street from where I grew up! Share your hometown Hollywood moments. Jennifer from California passed on this little bit of Canadiana. In the movie "Road to Perdition", there is a diner scene between Mike Sullivan and Maguire, where there can be seen a bottle of HP Sauce on Sullivan's table. HP Sauce is a brand made in the United Kingdom and available in Canada.

I am a huge Leaf fan (of course, I'm from Toronto so that goes without saying!) and after waiting many many hours outside Maple Leaf Gardens after games, I had met and gotten autographs from many Leafs but never Wendel Clark (my God - LOL) Not long after I moved to Los Angeles, I was in the airport and looked over to see the entire Toronto Maple Leaf team sitting at a gate waiting to board a flight. I have to confess, I teared up for a few minutes and then I pulled it together and headed straight for Wendel Clark. I introduced myself and got his autograph and was in heaven but I was also very nervous so in making small talk I commented on the fact that they didn't play well the night before. I was horrified when I realized what I had just said to Wendel. Nick Kypreos was sitting across from Wendel and was on his cell phone and actually put the phone down to listen to and laugh at me as I made a fool of myself in front of Wendel. It was well worth it though - I still cherish that autograph!! To some this comment may not make sense when the post is about Hollywood, but to me there is no more important celebrity than Wendel Clark!
